Industrial engineering becomes resource efficient

Energy and resource efficient solutions along the value-added chain ensure the competitiveness of the German industry and its technological top position. The BMBF supports the development of resource efficient production technologies with more than 50 million euros. Some 160 companies and 35 research institutes cooperate in 31 joint projects. Research has been done in the fields of new technologies, functional surfaces, lightweight construction, production equipment as well as planning and control.

Drives electrify electric mobility

Electric drives are an important component in making electric mobility producible in Germany. The BMBF supports seven joint projects with 49 partners from industry and science with 20 million euros in the context of the disclosure “Standard flexible technologies for electric vehicle drives.” In the projects, automated and flexible quantities of production technologies are being developed that scale up small serial production of electric engines, drive components and their subsystems to mass production. Variable production is thus achieved.
